Our Physiotherapists

Caroline Stonehouse

Caroline Stonehouse graduated with a BSc (hons) in Physiotherapy from Wolverhampton University in 1993. After qualifying, she undertook her general rotations before specialising in paediatrics. She has been working as a paediatric physiotherapist for 28 years. Caroline continues to work part time as a Highly Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist at St Mary’s Hospital in London. This enables her to keep up to date with, and understand how treatment is delivered to children within the National Health Service.

Caroline is an accredited Bobath Physiotherapist, having completed both the 8 week Bobath course; one week advanced Bobath course and a number of Bobath day workshops. Bobath is a method of Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT), which is a recognised method of treating neuro-developemental conditions including Cerebral Palsy and Acquired Brain Injuries. She is highly experienced in treating children with Cerebral Palsy and a wide range of other developmental, neuro-muscular, musculo-skeletal and congenital disorders, including children who have multiple and complex needs.

Caroline is experienced in gait analysis (walking patterns); orthotics and biomechanics, both for children with neuro-developmental conditions; sports-related conditions and musculo-skeletal conditions. She also has experience in the provision and use of lycra suits as an adjunct to therapy.

Caroline developed the ‘Movement MOT for Children’, a comprehensive clinical assessment tool for children with neuro-developmental conditions. It was accepted for a poster presentation at the Association of Paediatric Physiotherapists annual conference in 2002.

Caroline is HCPC registered; a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists (APCP). She regularly attends the APCP annual conference to keep abreast of developments within the field of Paediatric Physiotherapy.
